“We selected BRS after a rigorous bid process, and both during the work phase and after seeing the finished product, we could not have been happier with our selection. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail is excellent, which are a testament to both their expertise and their commitment to the project,
from John and Jim down to the workers on site. Throughout the course of the work, BRS was responsive and communicative during and between weekly meetings, and we were always kept abreast of the key details. BRS understood our need for a safe worksite, given our school setting, and they always placed the safety of the students, faculty, and public as the first priority. BRS continuously demonstrated a willingness and desire to go above and beyond the scope of work, all while delivering according to the agreed upon timeline and budget – one more reason why we anticipate working with them again.”
Michael Grossman, Kingsley Montessori
“My clients are concerned about safety and liability. As a result, worksite safety is a key criteria I use in selecting contractors. I have witnessed BRS’s commitment to safety on the job; their tradesmen are OSHA 30 certified, they employ an independent safety officer who inspects every project site weekly and there is safety equipment, plans and procedures for every task. Knowing that construction is in the hands of an organization that puts safety first and stands behind it by investing in their people and equipment is important to me when I am recommending contractors to clients.
BRS excels in this area.”
Richard Fraser, President, Elements Management
“In 2012, as then Director of Planning & Facilities Management at the Whitehead Institute in Cambridge MA,
I engaged BRS to provide professional restoration and waterproofing services.
BRS performed work of the highest quality, emphasizing important worksite safety surrounding the heavy pedestrian traffic in Kendall Square. I would highly recommend BRS and their specialized staff for their outstanding work and attention to detail.”
Cynthia Souza, MBA, Facilities Planning & Management Professional
“BRS was able to save Dartmouth Square Condominiums hundreds of thousands of dollars through value engineering. They worked closely with the engineers to provide cost saving alternatives to the proposed scope of work. They were service driven from the day they stepped on the job, and completed the project on time. I would highly recommend BRS for any of your restoration projects.”
Bill Kasper, Founder, Urban Property Management
“BRS is the best in the business. Period. Led by John Childs and his ‘SWAT’ team of amazing guys, he completely gutted and built Blue Dragon in 75 days! The amount of work they performed in those days is astounding: raising the basement ceiling, installing a complete kitchen downstairs, assisting in design and creating the red wood bar, iron stools, Feng shui cone on the roof, 2 awnings, all iron work and mill work including the fabrication of our water Mirror and even the Dragon statue on the corner. BRS is so much more than a typical GC. They can help you create and build all FF&E. And the best part about BRS: the people. So freaking nice and professional, worked all hours to get the job done. We had to open Blue Dragon during the Year of the Dragon, and they beat that by 2 days! They stand by their work, real pros! Come see for yourself how good BRS is and stop by Blue Dragon soon. And the food is pretty good too….”
Ming Tsai Chef/Owner, Blue Dragon
“BRS is a great organization doing fantastic work in the Boston area. I’ve had the opportunity to work with them on several projects. They all have a great work ethic and are a pleasure to work with. My area of expertise is in lighting design; something crucial to create the right atmosphere in any project and the BRS really understand this. Their professionalism and determination to make each project special is validated time and again by the successful conclusion of each project. I enjoy working with BRS and would strongly recommend them.”
Sergio Mazon, LC Principal, Mazon Lighting Design
“Wychmere Beach Club, a private luxury resort on Cape Cod managed by LONGWOOD venues + destinations, contracted BRS to execute a time sensitive and complex project. They had to convert the old Thompsons Clam Bar into a world class event space, and the office building into a boutique private hotel with 18 designer suites. Our team was very impressed with BRS: bringing multiple competitive bids with ease and on time, completing the project on budget, communicating openly and clearly. BRS was able to subcontract professional and efficient teams during off season months on Cape Cod. BRS often went above and beyond their scope to research and source materials and to bring creative and practical solutions to various construction situations. BRS also consulted with State Room, another property of LONGWOOD, back in 2002 in the capacity of owner’s representative. State Room, Boston’s top event space, is located on the 33rd floor of 60 state St, A class office building. Leveraging its experience and resources, BRS guided LONGWOOD through the entire bidding and construction process, our first major endeavor. 10 years later, thanks to BRS, State Room still hosts the most talked about events and galas in Boston. With BRS we have not only built projects, we have built a relationship that allows us to more confidently search for new opportunities.”
Jim Apteker, Founder, Longwood Venues+Destinations
“It has been a pleasure to deal with the development, design and implementation teams from BRS. The teams have the unique ability to handle all phases of a restaurant buildout from start to finish. The foresight exhibited by BRS to solve all the buildout issues associated with our challenging site is the true testament to their professionalism. We look forward to the next project undertaking with BRS.”
Mike Barry, General Manager, Sterling’s Restaurant
“BRS performed the tough task of turning this iconic landmark Irish bar into the 21st century all while keeping its 20’th century charm intact. We were able to stay open during all phases of construction and they finished ahead of schedule. The woodwork was amazing and the attention to detail down to the logo in the tile of the floor was top notch. My favorite part is when guests came in who hadn’t been there in years would say “Everything looks great, but something is different and we can’t put our finger on it” BRS did an amazing job keeping the tradition of Boston’s best Irish bar alive…”
Vinny Polcari, General Manager, Black Rose
“We were faced with an incredibly tight timeline to get our restaurant open before our target date of Feb 8th. BRS worked incredibly hard and met the deadline and also far surpassed our expectations of them. They not only got the job done on time but also added an incredible amount of value by manufacturing a lot of our FFE in their own facility. After dealing with a number of construction companies over the past 25 years of being in business I can honestly say that John Childs and his entire crew are the most competent, professional, innovative, clever and effective people I have ever dealt with in any capacity. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends who were looking to build or renovate property.”
Sean P. Gildea, The Dartmouth Group
“Under extreme pressure to be open for Tall Ships 2012, Glynn Hospitality chose BRS as the general contractor for Granary Tavern, and we could not have been more impressed with the level of workmanship and professionalism they provided. They were instrumental in both the design, help and fabrication of our restaurant. They transformed a two story, three building property dating back to 1827 into a unique 5000 square foot modern restaurant, using materials from 19th century Vermont barns, steel and centuries old wooden beams. From the design and manufacture of unique barstools and tables, to a one of a kind beer draft tower, their creativity and attention to detail are second to none. Nothing is ever an issue and they go above and beyond to give the client their utmost attention. Their employees are professional and accommodating, with safety always at a premium. The availability of their own manufacturing facility, for both wood work and metal work, makes the turnaround of product extremely fast. In addition to building the restaurant they were the contractor we used to add five floors of glass to a colonial historical building adjacent to the Greenway and Aquarium in Boston. Their expertise and innovation has created a one of a kind building that only adds to the grandeur of the wharf district.
We look forward to using BRS in our future projects, and would encourage others to use this professional and detailed team that has been assembled by John Childs.”
Paul Wilson, Director of Operations, Glynn Hospitality Group
“It was a pleasure to work with the very professional team at BRS. We were on a very tight schedule to overhaul our kitchen and BRS worked diligently to get the job done on time. The craftsmanship was fantastic and the service unbeatable. We will not only use BRS again, we will highly recommend them to all of our colleagues. Thank you BRS for all your hard work, truly amazing results.”
Brandy Mackey, Lyons Group
“BRS has performed sophisticated repairs for a number of our clients and has consistently done so while satisfying even the most discerning Boards, Unit Owners, and Property Managers. At the end of the day, I consistently find that BRS provides our clients with a tremendous value and, as we know, value is even more important during the economic challenges of the present.”
Douglas G. Thayer, CPM Thayer & Associates, Inc.
